Hexagons can be arranged to cover an area without gaps, as we see with this connected hexa-hexagon. This means you don't gap dough that gets re-rolled. We have used this for biscuits and cookies. Cookies cut in hexagons can be decorated with snowflake patterns without the worry about the cookie structural integrity during transport. They are also good for Hanukkah cookies, with either dreidel or Star of David designs. I am looking for game board ideas.The size is good. You aren't rolling out a huge area, and it is easy to line up with previous cuts to continue cutting.Make little paper stencils for the snowflakes or other patterns you apply.

This is great for cookies, tea cakes and doughnuts. No scraps to re-roll and get tough and once they rise during baking, they are almost round anyway.
