The cutter seems to be deformed. When you put it flat on the table, some parts of it touch the table, others do not. The cutouts that are inside do not even come close to the surface of the table. How are you supposed to cut a cookie with it when some parts of the cutter are just hanging up in the air. Even after I pressed hard on it to make it lie flat, it did not. The inside cutout parts were about one quarter of an inch above the table surface when the sides of the cutter were lying flat of the table. it is absolutely impossible to make a snowflake as it is shown on the picture with this cutter!

This makes a fantastic cookie....but you need to know this first...it is not for someone that does not enjoy taking the time to create....first...make your dough slightly tougher....then put parchment paper on your table and roll out the dough on top of it....then press your cutter into it....make sure you press EACH part of the cookie cutter because of it size, it is not level.....do this a couple of times all around the edges and inside where the cut out's are....then peel away the OUTSIDE dough from the cookie cutter...then I use a soft small paint brush and gently press all the insides of the points so the cookie cutter will release when I left straight up. after removing cutter, take a toothpick and remove the dough out of the cut out's....you can now transfer your cookie to you cookie sheet using the parchment paper that is under it and cook it this way....cook until points are so very slightly brown...move pan to an area that it can cool before you try and get the cookie off....when you do remove the cookie...again, do it with the parchment paper that is under it and allow it to cool....sounds like a lot of work, but after you do it a couple of times...it is easy...you can only get 2 cookies on a cookie pan....good luck. I use royal icing and dragees to decorate and it is breath taking. The only reason I give this a 4 instead of 5 is because the cutter is cheaply made...you have to be careful with it...so I bought two so if one breaks...I have another....it is well worth it.

Love the look, but...

I love the look of this snowflake, however, making cookies with it was difficult. I believe mine was made incorrectly as the sharp side was not the side you used to cut the dough. When I tried using it with the sharp side up, it wouldn't go through the dough all the way (I didn't think it would, but I had to try), and when I used it sharp side down, it was uneven and only cut through the dough in certain places but not the whole snowflake. Some of the pieces are so small, that the dough became lodged in it. I became very frustrated and only made one cookie with this cutter as I didn't have the time and energy to try to make more, so for the remaining cookies I used the retro ornament cookie cutters and they worked out great. This is a beautiful cutter to look at, I just wished it worked better.
